Gay in AK: LGBT in Anchorage and the State — a community panel at UAA Constitution Week 2011
As part of UAA Constitution Week 2011, University of Alaska Anchorage will present a community panel this coming Friday which will explore the issue of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender rights as it relates to the Alaska and United States Constitutions. The panel will feature leaders who have advocated for equal rights in front of Alaska’s courts, the Anchorage Assembly, and the University of Alaska Board of Regents.
The evening’s panel will include Jeff Mittman, Executive Director for the ACLU of Alaska, Trevor Storrs of the One Anchorage campaign to add sexual orientation and transgender identity to Anchorage’s equal rights code, and UAA staff and students who advocated for University of Alaska’s Board of Regents to include sexual orientation in the Board of Regents’ nondiscrimination policy last February.
