Where to find GLBT Alaska — Churches & religious groups
Visitors, new residents and long-time Alaskans want to know where to find churches and that are inclusive, welcoming, open, affirming or at least LGBT-friendly. Here is the current list. If you know a gay-positive religious organization in Alaska that you think should be on this list, please leave the information in a comment below the post.
Disclaimer: This list is not an endorsement or recommendation of these particular religious groups, only a recognition that they are LGBT-friendly.
Bent Alaska’s resource list for Alaska’s GLBT organizations, groups and publications remains one of the most often visited pages on the blog. There is also a list of GLBT Alaska’s Annual Events, and Seasonal and Recurring Events.
Alaska’s GLBT Business List has so many listings for Travel-related businesses, that I’ve added a separate Travel resource list, Where to Find GLBT Alaska – Travel & Tourism.

Had no idea Fairbanks Luthern welcomed all.
How funny that Bible Baptist isn’t on the list, then again…oh wait I’m not even gonna go there.
St. John United Methodist Church in Anchorage is where my partner and I are members. It is welcoming.
Thank you for posting the list, and thank you for including us.
Krystal – Is Bible Baptist the one with the big billboard by the highway that often sports anti-gay sayings?
Fairbanks Lutheran is welcoming, and I just found an Anchorage Lutheran church that is welcoming. Who knew?
Anon – thanks for the tip about St. John.
Jana – thank you for being part of a welcoming church, and thanks for visiting Bent Alaska!
The Immanuel Presbyterian Church is More Light church which menas that they are an inclusive church, their mission statement says" We believe that all people are children of God And afform the worth and dignity of all races, ethnicities, ages, abilities, genders and sexual orientations. Recognizing that we are an increasingly diverse culture and that there are differences among us, we make a commitment to lovingly accept our diversity with respect, compassion and understanding. We welcome all people into the full life and ministry of this church.
Marilyn – We're glad to see our church, St John UMC on the list. We're trying to make it even more welcoming.
Don't know how we got missed, but Holy Trinity at Fourth and Gold in downtown Juneau is GLBT friendly and welcoming. Come by for a visit!
